Profs. Ben A. Barres (Neurobiology, Developmental Biology, and Neurology and Neurological Sciences) and Michael E. Professor John M. McCarthy (Computer Science) died on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the age of 84. John was a longtime affiliated faculty member of the Symbolic Systems Program. An obituary has been published by the Stanford News Service.
