DESCRIPTION: You are invited to participate in a research study on certain dialectal variations in English. In the experiment, you will be asked to complete sentences, in whatever way you think it can be completed.
The purpose of this research is to not to "test" your knowledge of a prescriptive grammar, good "style" or school knowledge about written language. Instead, we are interested in your personal judgment/opinion. We ask you to imagine an informal, every day conversation while you are doing the experiment. Data that you provide will be given codes so that reference to your name will never be made (in fact, your name is not even included in the data set). If you agree to participate in the experiment, you will get more information on the next page.

RISKS AND BENEFITS: There are no foreseeable risks or discomfort that might result from participation in this study. Beyond pleasure derived by way of participating in a language experiment, there are no benefits either.

TIME INVOLVEMENT: Your participation in this experiment will take approximately 15-25 minutes.

PAYMENTS: Unfortunately, no funds are currently available for this study. Participation in this study will not result in payment. Thank you for you understanding.

SUBJECT'S RIGHTS: If you have read this form and have decided to participate in this project, please understand your participation is voluntary and you have the right to withdraw your consent or discontinue participation at any time without penalty. You have the right to refuse to answer particular questions. Your individual privacy will be maintained in all published and written data resulting from the study.
