Experiment SP.01

Hello and welcome to our language experiment. This experiment has been designed by Gaetanelle Gilquin (Linguistics Department, Stanford).

Who can participate?

In order to participate in this experiment, you should

• have 7 - 10 minutes available;
• be over 18 years old;
• be an native speaker of American English (that is you should have been born in the US or have moved there at an early age and received your education through the medium of American English);
• and be willing to help the scientific research :-)

Technical requirements

This experiment requires Netscape Navigator 3.0 or higher, or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. The experimental software works best on Netscape Navigator 6.0 or higher and with a Java 1.2 Plugin. Most modern computers should have the necessary software already installed but if you experience problems, please download the Java 1.4.2 Runtime Environment [choose any JRE file with a version number of J2SEv1.4.2 or higher]. To participate in the experiment, Java and JavaScript must be enabled (you can check this in the "Preferences"-menu under "Advanced" if you are using a Netscape browser, or in the "Tools --> Internet Options"-menu under "Advanced" if you are using Internet Explorer).
