About CrowdFlower: CrowdFlower (www.crowdflower.com) is changing the way work gets done, and we want you to help. Our technology platform takes large, data-heavy projects and breaks them into small tasks that are distributed to a multi-million-person, on-demand workforce around the world. Our technology then aggregates the results while performing continuous quality control, allowing us to deliver best-in-class results in record time.
About the Job: CrowdFlower is looking for a Technical CrowdSourcing Analyst to design and implement crowdsourced solutions to data-centric business problems. The ideal candidate is personable and patient, able to listen carefully and accurately assess technical requirements from general problem descriptions, and then translate those requirements into rock solid workflows and intuitive UIs that accept and emit precisely formatted data. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities include the following:
We're a dynamic startup with numerous opportunities for growth. No matter what you do here, we will always welcome your ideas and solutions. Requirements:
Skills Needed: People: You should be comfortable working with people—phone, email, in-person—and able to listen and ask questions when appropriate. You're not afraid to jump in with a better solution if you have one, or work with other team members if you don't know the best approach. Data handling and analysis: You should feel comfortable working with large multi-dimensional datasets. You are the type of person who learns all of the keyboard shortcuts in Excel, but prefers to build their graphs in R. HTML and CSS: You are a blogger or a hacker or both, have built a few websites and have a solid grasp of HTML and CSS. You will be spending a lot of time creating web UIs in our own markup language, CML (CrowdFlower Markup Language). Scripting: You have some background in computer science and are too impatient to do something by hand, so you write a script in your language of choice to do the work while you grab lunch. Time management: You are able to handle multiple projects and budget your time well in order to meet deadlines. We don't micromanage. Bonus Points: Eye for design: You have a grasp of the basic tenets of design. Your UIs are not only efficient and functional, but also elegant and easy on eyes. JavaScript: You write JS code that makes our Client Services Engineers blush. Related degree or research experience: You have an undergraduate or graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, social science, or other numeracy-related degree. You have served an integral role in an original research project. You have written or helped to write a scientific paper. Computer Science: You have a firm grasp on the fundamentals of computer science, and are able to grasp the basics of new languages quickly. |
