INTERESTED IN BRAIN SCIENCE?  =>  BIO-X SUMMER RESEARCH OPENING FOR SYMBOLIC SYSTEMS UNDERGRADUATES

The laboratory of Professor Mark J Schnitzer of the Stanford Bio-X Clark Center announces an undergraduate research opening for Summer 2011. The project concerns the computational construction of an unprecedented map of the mammalian brain circuits.  We seek insight into the fundamental principles of neural computation, presumably quite different than those familiar from today's computers, which are likely to be widely applicable to many species, including humans. The map will allow researchers to form novel hypotheses about information flow in the brain and to visualize circuit connectivity. Students should ideally be interested in both brain circuits and graphical approaches to data visualization, although extensive programming experience is not necessary.  Interested students should contact Prof. Schnitzer at mschnitz@stanford.edu.  If possible, please attach a CV or resume, unofficial transcript, and a mobile phone number. Please use "BioX Summer Research Opening"  as the subject line in your email of response
