Brandon Weiss Class Year: 2003 Concentration: Philosophical Foundations
About: I'm one of the few sym sys majors concentrating in philosophical foundations. I've taken a couple of mind blowing philosophy classes that everyone should take before graduation--I'll tell you which ones they are if you come in for advising. Besides school stuff, I love to play basketball so if you're ever up for some non-ssp-related schooling let me know! Other interests/likes: emerson, tupac, jazz, the dalai lama, apple juice, doodling, Whose Line is it Anyway?, Space Mountain at Disneyland and Forrest Gump. If you like any of this stuff too then we need to talk.
Office Hours: none this quarter...Brandon graduated :-(

About: I'm both a Symbolic Systems undergraduate and Concurrent Master's student. I'm also an Advising Fellow for the 2008-2009 year. In terms of research, I am interested in studying cognition through behavioral experiments and computational models, including connectionist and probabilistic models. I am currently researching how people learn perceptual categories, such as the names of animals or the speech sounds of their native language. Come by to chat philosophy, cognitive science, or anything Symbolic Systems related!
